Do you take insurance? What are you fees?
For now, we are considered Out-Of-Network for most insurance companies; however, you are welcome to submit a "superbill" to your insurance company for reimbursement. You will automatically receive a superbill at the end of the month and are welcome to submit that to your insurance company to see if they will cover any of the cost of service.
The most significant benefit of not involving insurance is client confidentiality. When you utilize medical insurance for your mental health, they require a diagnosis that becomes part of your permanent medical records. When insurance is involved, one must make a diagnosis and limit treatment to what they consider effective. Moreover, the diagnosis may have long-term implications for future choices. We do not believe clients fit into a single box or should be labeled. Diagnosis and labeling can often lead to unhealthy feelings.
Last, insurance plans have little experience or training in mental health approaches, which can limit treatment methods. If you have any other questions, please reach out for further discussion and pricing.
Cancellation Policy:
We ask that you please cancel your appointment at least 24 hours in advance. We understand that life happens and things are not always in our control, so we allow a one-time free cancellation. After that same day, cancellations are $75.
How long will we work togther?
One of the most significant factors in your success and satisfaction with therapy is your relationship with your therapist. Finding the right fit can also accelerate the work and potentially result in shorter treatment. Every client is different. It is hard to give a definitive answer. Some research supports 15-20 sessions for approximately 50% of individuals, but this can vary from person to person.
We do not utilize one type of therapy. There is not one type of solution. We believe in helping clients recognize thought patterns that no longer serve them and begin to understand how these thoughts affect their bodies. We are a sum part of our life experiences, and these patterns, both negative and positive, become hardwired. Our goal is to help clients recognize how this process works and to better understand the mind-body connection.
During the first session, we will explore what brings you in, and in subsequent sessions, we will better understand the length of therapy based on the personalized treatment goals we design for you. This initial process can take anywhere from 1-3 sessions. It is hard to know the length of treatment because everyone is different, but you can expect a minimum of 12 sessions. The time we spend together is invaluable, but like anything else, the more you give, the more you will receive, so you can expect to work outside the session. Although Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a framework to guide sessions, many other therapies are utilized depending on the reasons you are seeking assistance. We also utilize experiential and somatic therapies when assisting clients.
Where do you see clients?
Our office-based sessions occur in Fort Collins, CO. Our equine sessions are held at a barn in Northeast Fort Collins, and our nature-based sessions vary depending on individual session requirements.
What is Equine Assisted & Nature-Based Therapy?
Equine Assisted Therapy, or EAP, is a therapeutic treatment tool utilized by trained and licensed mental health professionals to engage the client in the therapeutic process and enhance the benefits of therapy. My specialized training in EAP is through the University of Denver’s Institute for Human and Animal Connection.
During an EAP session you can expect to participate in a transformative session with horses surrounded by beautiful scenery of the front range. You will experience hands-on (somatic) work in a calm and grounding equine environment. You can expect to interact with horses (groundwork only) while talking and reflecting with your therapist. You will learn how to engage and build relationships with horses and integrate your learnings and insights from the session to carry the growth and realizations with you into your everyday life.
Being outdoors in nature can be health-promoting, can decrease depression, and increase mental well-being. Not all clients like to be in an office. Sessions can be held outdoors in nature to meet each client where they are. If you have tried traditional therapy in the past with little success, this might be a great option to try.
Communication style and access out of the session?
You will have access to your therapist through email, text, and phone. We will do our best to get back to you as soon as possible. If there is an emergency, please call 911. You can also call 988, the suicide and crisis hotline, for immediate help.
We value the therapeutic relationship and are aware that questions and comments can occur outside the session. This is why we feel strongly about open communication and being able to reach out and ask questions that may arise in between sessions. We will do our very best to accommodate these requests.
